Brad&Boti: Winners are grinners, so we're glum
OUR WNBL preview with Kristi Harrower dropped yesterday and today we switch our attention at the Brad&Boti podcast to this week's NBL games, Brad Rosen as always denying his blatant Kings bias and me trying to keep my love of the Jackies in abeyance.
WNBL1: Boom! Melbourne thunders past Lightning
ALL dressed in lilac, Melbourne last night lowered the boom on a stunned and ultimately numb Lightning in Adelaide, opening the WNBL season with a come-from-behind 68-60 victory, back-up centre Penina Davidson and import Naz Hillmon stand-outs.
NBL Rd6 Rankings, Tips: Mystery solving on the cards
CAN Brisbane and Adelaide continue their newly-found revivals, is Cairns the real deal, will South East Melbourne continue its run, has New Zealand hit the skids and is Perth as bad as we all - even Bryce Cotton's better half - suspect? NBL Round 6 should have a few answers for us.
Brad&Boti: Kristi on WNBL 2024, and more
THE WNBL’s 2023-24 Season tips off tonight – yes, we realise you probably didn’t know because the outstanding women’s league is Basketball Australia’s best kept secret – and for our Brad&Boti podcast with Brad Rosen and I, we secured arguably the GOAT of Australian point guards, Kristi Harrower for a special preview show.
WNBL24: Mini Season Preview
THE WNBL’s 2023-24 Season tips off tonight in Adelaide with a full-strength Lightning hosting Melbourne, the Boomers down Kristy Wallace and Monique Conti, and with Aimee Rocci (concussion protocols) a game-time decision.
NBLTotW5: Gunning for the Teams title
A PAIR of wins again for Melbourne United, solidifying it at the head of the NBL ladder, held the club in good stead again as our NBL Team of the Week for Round 5.
That is until the Bullets came out firing.
Seriously, NBL's Upset Round a Nightmare
NBL tipsters experienced a nightmare NBL Round 5, with only league-leading Melbourne United fulfilling expectations, Chris Goulding alight for 33 points against Illawarra, and Brisbane closing the weekend with an upset over Tasmania.
Upsets continue rolling on
THE NBL's "round of upsets" continued last night with South East Melbourne staving off a fast-finishing New Zealand - not entirely unexpected given the Breakers' loss of Zylan Cheatham - and Cairns completely controlling Sydney for 40 minutes, Bul Kuol playing all of them.
Can the refs please just get out of the way?
TWO more big games in NBL Round 5 last night and the referees cannot help but get involved - to the detriment of all concerned - as United beats Tasmania in Hobart and the Bullets shoot down a very lame gaggle of Wildcats in Perth, a few of the local fans even voicing their disapproval.
Are the Breakers cooked with Zylan zapped?
THE fractured foot suffered yesterday by Zylan Cheatham as New Zealand succumbed to Adelaide 85-97 at Spark Arena will see him sidelined for 6-8 weeks and the Breakers in desperate need of immediate replacement help.
