B&B: Catching Lightning in a bottle

IT'S been a busy week for media collaborator Brad Rosen and I with all that went down in that epic Round 2 of the NBL season, not to mention the stunning WNBL results. We address all that and more at our Brad&Boti podcast but start out with the WNBL's reigning MVP, talking catching Lightning in a bottle with Steph Talbot.

The winner of the Betty Watson Rookie of the Year award for the 2013 WNBL season, Steph made it to the Adelaide Lightning after a brilliant junior career.

A member of Australia's Bronze Medal-winning Sapphires team at FIBA's 2013 World Junior Championship in Lithuania, Steph was named in the tournament's All Star Five, her star firmly on the rise.

With the Opals in 2015, she won Gold at the Oceania Championship before continuing on to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

In 2018, she was instrumental in Australia's Silver Medal success at the FIBA World Cup but struggled with injury as the Opals were bundled out of the recent Tokyo Olympic Games. How excited is she about the FIBA World Cup in Oz next year?

Returning to her WNBL home at Adelaide after stints with Canberra Capitals, Gorzów Wielkopolski in Poland, USO Mondeville in France and Melbourne Boomers, Steph now is captain of the Lightning and very much leading from the front.

A WNBA draft pick by Phoenix Mercury in 2014, she has played in the US pro league with the Mercury, Minnesota Lynx and Seattle Storm.

From the shy girl of Kadina in country SA, to the MVP of the league in 2020, Steph's journey has been quite a memorable one and you can hear all about it by simply clicking on this link.

Who were her biggest influences and what does the future hold?

It's all here, or you can also access it via Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

There's also time for Brad and I to dissect the NBL and WNBL, Brad with a ripping Rosen Rattler, me with a noxious Nagy's Nasty. It's all here at this link.
