Blitz gets the Bullets
TweetTHE NBL Blitz will be heading back to Brisbane this preseason to help the relaunch on the rejuvenated Bullets franchise and whet Queensland's appetite for big-time basketball.
Somewhat ironically, the last team to win the Blitz in Brisbane - at Auchenflower Stadium in 2014 - was the now defunct Townsville Crocodiles.
But this time the return of the popular preseason series for the Loggins-Bruton Cup and Ray Borner MVP Medal, will be to get Brisbane's long-suffering but incredibly patient basketball fans out to take first looks at their returning team and also what they will be up against in 2016-17.
Previous Blitzes in Townsville, Brisbane and Sydney have enjoyed live-streaming coverage, Matt McQuade and Liam Santamaria manning the mikes last year.
The Blitz brings all eight teams into one city for matches worth seven premiership points - one per quarter won and three for the game-win.
It has proven a very successful formula, Melbourne United the current Loggins-Bruton Cup holders.
The dates are expected to be September 22-26.
Meanwhile Sydney Kings have added to their roster, securing Townsville Crocs firebrand Mirko Djeric.
