Chambers to spark Flames

YES, you probably already know Bulleen stalwart Cheryl Chambers has succeeded Shannon Seebohm as coach of the WNBL's Sydney Uni Flames.

Chambers was arguably the best-credentialed available coach outside the WNBL so her recruitment is a huge "get" for the Flames.

After the success enjoyed by SS over his two years at the helm, apparently the club only sought applicants with identical initials, CC beating out Mark Molitor, Kennedy Kereama, Mike McHugh and Vicki Valk. (Barry Barnes didn't apply).

Best of all though, was the announcement at Basketball Australia's WNBL website, with the relevant paragraphs screenshot below:

What better endorsement can Cheryl get than one from herself?

And in the spirit of those quotes, I just want to add I think I've been doing a pretty good job myself...

But seriously, maybe BA or someone at the WNBL could fix that up? Pretty sure those were Ms Dalton's quotes.

IN other WNBL news, defending champion Townsville has reached for the stars and come up with one in Natasha Cloud.

Cloud, 24 and a 183cm guard, is a WNBA player with Washington Mystics.

Bendigo has added 182cm guard and former Australian Under-19 player Ashleigh Karaitiana, who has been playing for the University of Hawaii.
