TweetGEELONG basketball stalwart Craig Herbert also received an Order of Australia Medal in the Australia Day honours list.
That one slipped by me yesterday when giving a shout out to Carrie Graf, Andrew Lazaris and Rachael Sporn for their OAM successes, mostly for their involvement in and commitment to our great sport.
Craig (pictured below in action for Geelong Supercats in the 1982 NBL season) is also a former club captain, chairman and assistant coach.
Herbert has been a giant of Geelong basketball for more than 40 years and, like Carrie, Andrew and Rachael, is thoroughly deserving of his OAM recognition.
He was part of the Geelong Supercats' frontcourt which also included James Crawford and former St Kilda big Ian Manson and which made it to the NBL Grand Final in the club's first year in the league.
