Eric makes three

THE Adelaide 36ers will run with three imports this NBL season, Eric Jacobsen officially joining Jerome Randle and Terrance Ferguson for 2016-17.

Tipped a week ago in The Advertiser and at News Corp online, confirmation of Jacobsen's signature came through today with the 208cm 22-year-old now Adelaide bound.

Coach Joey Wright said the Sixers needed a "banger" to shore up a frontcourt depleted by Anthony Petrie's late decision to pass on his option year and head instead to Brisbane.

Jacobsen is coming off his senior year at Arizona State University where he delivered 7.7ppg at 58 per cent and 5.5 rebounds before joining Phil Handy's Cleveland Cavs team at the NBA Las Vegas Summer League.

Handy is a very familiar face in Australia after playing NBL with Melbourne Tigers and West Sydney Razorbacks. (He's also wellknown to Matthew Dellavedova as an assistant coach on Cleveland's NBA champion.)

He was one of several basketball identities who recommended Jacobsen, who was playing alongside former NBLers in Jordy McRae (United) and Diamon Simpson (36ers) on Cleveland's Summer League outfit.

Jacobsen (above) joins a young 36ers team with fellow import Ferguson forgoing a college career to enhance his NBA Draft chances next year, just 18.

Randle returns after dazzling the league last year before winning the Lithuanian Championship with Zalgiris Kaunas.

Anthony Drmic and Majok Deng make their debuts after college careers in the US and Adam Doyle has been promoted from development ranks.

Daniel Johnson, Mitch Creek, Brendan Teys, Nathan Sobey and Matt Hodgson all return.

“This year is probably one of the most exciting years for me because we have so many new guys and I don’t know what to expect,” Wright said.

Expect up-tempo, spectacular action I would suggest.
