FLASHBACK 47: Early NBL, WNBL +

*FLASHBACKS, my irregular "lucky dip" where I just reach into my drawers of old Australian basketball stuff and transcribe whatever I find for you.

THIS series of returning to see our history through pictures still seems to be working for you so today I've dug up a few old NBL pics.

But there's a few others too - pre-NBL - which may surprise, with apologies for the quality. Hopefully the memory will be worth it.

INAUGURAL NBL MVP: Ken Richardson, during his stint with St Kilda.

FRAGRANT ROSE: Rob Rose rises high during the NBL All Star Game.

LEGEND LEE: Leroy Loggins with his beloved Bullets.

WNBL CHIEF? Paul "The Mailman" Maley makes a special delivery on Adelaide.

A TANGLE? Mark Dalton and Bruce Bolden mix it up.

WEST'S BEST: The Bearcats' 1982 NBL champs, grossly under-rated today.

FALCON QUEST: Michael Johnson driving for Newcastle.

TIGER POUNCE: Jo Metcalfe (nee Moyle) pounces on a loose ball for Melbourne at North.

SJ's J: Steve Breheny when he could jump.

TO MORROW: Every rebound went to (George) Morrow in his prime at Newcastle.

TASSIE DEVIL: Kathy Foster leading Hobart.

SUPERSTAR: Bennie Lewis.

SPECTRE OF SUCCESS: Tracey Browning sees the driving lane.

BACK TO THE FUTURE: Illawarra Hawks' first MVP Mike Jones in flight.

HERB THYME: Herb McEachin outfoxes Nunawading.

LOWERING THE CAPS: Merryn Jenkinson for West splits the Canberra defence.

NATIONALS: WA's Henry Daigle drives on SA's Glenn Marsland at Australian Champs.

WOMEN'S FINAL: Jan Stirling (nee Graham) gets her jumper off for SA against Victoria.

MOP TOP: Phil Smyth's early Boomer days.

CZECH OUT: Debbie Slimmon drives for the Opals against Czechoslovakia.

LEGENDS OF THE BALL: Robbie Cadee harasses Ken Burbridge in VBA action.

HANDS UP IF YOU'RE NBA-BOUND: Luc Longley posts up Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

IF YOU CAN'T LICK EM, JOIN EM: Future Giants legend Bruce Palmer gathers himself after being felled by those Coburgmeisters.

SEE YOU AT THE GIANTS, BRUCE: Glenn Bines in SEABL action for Bulleen.

"THE BODY": Steve Gray wins the tap for Coburg Giants.

SA GIANTS:  Peter Vitols shoots against Sturt, watched by (from L) Steve Johansen, Uldis Bruns and Sam Krupsky in SA action.

MY FAVOURITE PLAYER: Ken Richardson again, this time outrebounding Bill Palmer.
