Koehn goin' for the Boomers

KAYLA Stand-off-ish may have said no but it's "No worries" Laurie, with Laurie Koehn today confirmed as a Melbourne Boomer.

Koehn, 32 and 173cm, played with Logan Thunder previously in the WNBL and has enjoyed a solid WNBA career which has included stints at Washington and Atlanta.

At college in Kansas, she once nailed 132 out of 135 three-pointers in a five-minute drill you still can find out there in Youtube-world.

And among her other achievements, Koehn was a starter on the Gold Medal-winning USA Under-18 team at the 2000 Americas Championship where she was third in scoring behind Alana Beard and Diana Taurasi.

Last week during ABC-TVs coverage of the Melbourne Boomers-Adelaide Lightning game, Koehn confirmed she had been training with Guy Molloy's group and keen to restart her WNBL career.

Koehn comes into the team for injured Opals guard-forward Rachel Jarry to provide another scoring avenue and veteran composure.

Jarry hurt her knee again during the Opals' Bronze Medal-winning FIBA World Championship campaign in Turkey.

In MIAMI, Stephen Curry - arguably the best player in the NBA right now - shot his way out of a mini-shooting slump with 40 points as Golden State beat the Heat 114-97.

Curry's total came on 11-of-18 shooting as the Warriors won their sixth straight game.

“You just feel a rhythm,” said Curry, who was 8-of-24 in his previous two games.

“You start finding shots and it feels good. Even the ones I missed terribly felt good, which is pretty funny.”

Not if you are Miami.

Andrew Bogut, who missed the previous game with an orbital bone contusion - which translated from Amerispeak means he copped a whack below the eye from OKC's Kendrick Perkins - had 10 boards and some sweet assists reminiscent of Lithuanian superstar Arvydas Sabonis.

Got to admit, even as an LA Clippers fan, it is hard not to get caught up in Golden State's play.

Loving what Steve Kerr is bringing too as a rookie coach.
