NBL Round 1: Here we go!

THE countdown is on. It's almost game time and the start of the most anticipated NBL season in memory.

Season 2015-16 starts where it ended last season for Adelaide 36ers fans and against the same team, the New Zealand Breakers' win at Titanium Security Arena closing their semi series and putting the visitors two wins away from their fourth championship.

Much has changed since then, obviously but specifically for the home team, it has five new players - imports Ebi Ere and Kenyon McNeaill, second-chancer Lucas "Waxy" Walker, and two RoY candidates, Matt Hodgson and Nathan Sobey.

McNeaill, who injured his shoulder dunking at the Blitz (see the News Corp link below), has had an injection and will play.

The Breakers unveil their new import Charles Jackson and return one of the league's all-time best in Cedric Jackson.

A DECADE ON: Everard Bartlett wins the 2005 NBL Dunk Contest. He's finally getting a shot.

Players such as Shane McDonald, Everard Bartlett and Shea Ili, who all had moments of sheer brilliance at the Blitz, come into Dean Vickerman's defending champion.

Future NBA forward Tai Wynyard is a 17-year-old tyro.

Vukona-Petrie, Gibson-Te Rangi, Wesley/Jackson-Johnson - there are some matchups to be enjoyed.

At home and just slightly less injured than the champs, I'm expecting the Sixers to eke out a victory.
