Opals' Cup starts live on FOX


AUSTRALIA's Opals' FIBA World Cup qualifying through the Asia Cup - which tips off in Bangalore, India on Sunday - will be televised live on FOX Sports.

The pay-TV network which will televise the WNBL this season, will show the Opals'' group stage matches live and exclusively, with no ads during play.

Oceania champs and runners-up, Australia and New Zealand, now are playing for international qualifications (World Cups, Olympics) through Asia, therefore contesting the Asia Cup for the first time.

The top four teams from this tournament - its semi finalists - qualify for the 2018 FIBA Women's World Cup in Spain.

The Tall Ferns have drawn China, Chinese Taipei and North Korea in their group.

The match times to tune in for Australia's games, all AEST, are:

Sunday, July 23: Australia v Korea at 3.30pm
Monday, July 24: Australia v Philippines at 5.45pm
Tuesday, July 25: Australia v Japan at 5.45pm

The Quarter-Finals are on Thursday, semi finals tomorrow-week and medal playoffs next Saturday.

Japan comes into the Asia Cup as defending champion.

Australia's new faces at this level include WNBL superstar, naturalised swingman Kelsey Griffin, playmaker Lauren Mansfield, exciting scorer Maddie Garrick and college prodigy Alanna Smith. The team is:
