Spurs on brink as GSW advance

NO huge NBA surprises today either, either with Golden State advancing or Toronto keeping Miami battling.

Oklahoma pinching another game off San Antonio in the Western Conference semi final to take a 3-2 lead heading home for Game 6, raises an interesting question.

Which team out of the Spurs or OKC realistically can beat the Warriors in a seven-game Western Final?

Billy Donovan has done a brilliant job with his OKC adjustments but the play of his superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook cannot be underestimated or understated.

Steph Curry (29 points, 11 assists) showed his MVP bona fides and fellow “Splash brother” Klay Thompson delivered 33 points including six 3-pointers as GSW ended Portland’s trail blazing 125-121 today.

The only setback for the Warriors is the right leg injury Andrew Bogut suffered during the second quarter as he will be important against OKC’s Steven Adams and Enes Kanter, or the Spurs’ LeMarcus Aldridge and Tim Duncan in the Western Conference Final.

Sadly for the Spurs, another review of the officiating in their Game 5 91-95 home loss showed two officiating errors that should have gone their way after Oklahoma City also won Game 2 in San Antonio with the NBA acknowledging five incorrect non-calls in the final stretch.

That said, Westbrook had 35 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. Enough said.
