That's more like it

NOW that’s more like it as last night our NBL All-Australian touring team went on a 13-0 tear to beat China 72-64 in Guangzhou, levelling their three-game series 1-1.

As bad as Game 1 was, the Aussies were 100 per cent better in the rematch, even if coach Andrej Lemanis had to serve notice on the officiating crew by wearing a technical foul inside the first minute.

Ahead 50-39 at the last break, the Aussies wore a 25-9 surge by China before Perth’s Jesse Wagstaff and Sydney’s Jason Cadee orchestrated a 13-0 run to the siren.

It was a joy to watch, unless you were barracking for China.

Australia’s fullcourt pressure clearly caused China issues and Adam Gibson’s on-court return also was a major positive.

China’s high turnover rate also kept the referees from asserting any undue influence, the series concluding in Beijing tomorrow night – and live on Fox – with Game 3 now the decider.

WHILE Kevin Durant lit up for 41 points at 56 per cent to lead Oklahoma to a 111-97 win over San Antonio, in the NBA’s Eastern Conference, Cleveland ousted Atlanta 100-99.

The Cavs' win completed a four-game sweep, leaving them to await the Miami-Toronto winner in the East Conference Final.

OKC tied its Western Conference semi final series with the Spurs at 2-2, Kiwi centre Steven Adams with a 16-point, 11-rebound double.

LeBron James’ jumpshot with 39 seconds left gave Cleveland a 100-97 lead over Atlanta, the Cavaliers playing the last stretch just well enough to advance unscathed.

Kevin love enjoyed a 27-point, 13-rebound double, James was an assist short of a triple-double with 21 points, 10 boards and nine assists, Kyrie Irving with 21 points and eight assists.
