Top point guards hurt

THERE wasn’t a lot of good news in the NBA’s Western Conference today with LA’s Chris Paul breaking his hand and Golden State superstar Steph Curry confirmed to have a sprained MCL.

Curry, whose Warriors lead Houston 3-1 and are at home for Game 5, is expected to miss two weeks but the news is far more dire for the Clippers.

Paul broke a bone in his right hand, with the prevailing thinking his playoffs are most likely done.

To make matters worse, LA lost 84-98 in Portland, the Trail Blazers now knotting the series at 2-2.

And in more bad news for long-suffering Clippers fans, Blake Griffin appeared to aggravate a quad injury in the road loss.

“It doesn’t look great for him,” Clippers coach Glenn Rivers said post-game when asked about Paul’s status. “And it doesn’t look great for him either,” he said of Griffin’s quad.

“We’ve been in adverse situations all year, with guys out, others have come through and I expect them to do that at our place.”

Reigning league MVP Curry was diagnosed with a grade one medial ligament strain in his knee.

The star shooting point guard who is expected to receive a second league MVP award this season, will miss at least two weeks before he is reassessed.
