Webster's definition of invaluable

YOU don't have to look up the Webster definition of invaluable to know Corey Webster only really needed to hit one big shot for New Zealand to force the Swisse NBL Final to a decider.

In fact, the little guy with the big shot hit TWO huge baskets but it was the second one of his dreadful 2-of-13 which finally put Game 2 just outside the Wildcats reach to send us all back to Perth Arena tomorrow.

With 19 seconds to go and the clock perilously counting down, Webster drilled a monster triple to take a 68-67 lead out to a 71-67 buffer.

Needing two baskets to win, the game was just outside Perth's reach, despite some shenanigans from both teams before the siren finally sounded on a Breakers win.

And, when they needed him, there was Mika Vukona, the warrior, grabbing a huge offensive rebound after a couple of missed free throws.

WEBSTER'S DICTIONARY: It doesn't have "second guess" in it.

Cedric Jackson looked every centimetre a three-time NBL champion, delivering New Zealand team highs with 13 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

The Breakers opened with a 9-0 run, were caught by the Wildcats, then pushed the lead out again to 11 during the third before leading 60-53 early in the last.

But Perth fought back and tied it at 61-61 on a Jermaine Beal three and from there it was nail-biting stuff to the finish.

New Zealand aborted 15 free throws, which was as many as Perth made, the officiating continuing to leave a lot to be desired.

ALL-ACTION JACKSON: Cedric showing why he has a championship each year he's played NBL.

The championship concludes tomorrow in Perth, an extremely difficult place for a visitor to win, especially to steal a series.

Game 2: NEW ZEALAND BREAKERS 72 (Ce Jackson 13, Abercrombie 12, Pledger, Wesley 11, Webster 10; Ce Jackson 9 rebs; Ce Jackson 8 assts) d PERTH WILDCATS 68 (Beal 20, Wagstaff 13, Redhage 9; Knight, Jawai 6 10 rebs; Beal 4 assts) at The Breakhouse, North Shore Events Centre. Swisse Grand Final Series tied 1-1.

Game 1: PERTH WILDCATS 82 (Jawai 15, Knight 14, Prather, Wagstaff 11; Martin 10 rebs; Martin 5 assts) d NEW ZEALAND BREAKERS 76 (Webster 19, Ce Jackson 14, Ch Jackson, Vukona 11; Ch Jackson 10 rebs; Ce Jackson 4 assts) at The Jungle, Perth Arena. Wildcats lead best-of-3 Swisse Grand Final Series 1-0.
