NBL BACKS NEW ADELAIDE OWNERSHIP GROUP
The Adelaide 36ers are set to enter an exciting phase with a new ownership group taking on the licence of the iconic Adelaide basketball team with the full backing of the National Basketball League.
The Adelaide 36ers basketball team will be operated by a consortium of prominent local businesspeople Chaired by Bruce Spangler, the current Chairman of Arena Stadium Management, who operate the Titanium Security Arena in Adelaide, home of the 36ers.
The new management of the National Basketball League believes this group, with their financial strength and vision, will bring long-term stability to the club and ensure it is as strong off court as it has been on the court.
A new level of professionalism will be introduced to the club with support being given by the staff from the Titanium Security Arena management team.
The owners and management of the arena are excited to be embarking on this journey with an iconic South Australian brand.
NBL Executive Director Larry Kestelman said this exciting news was a positive development for basketball in Adelaide.
“The NBL is striving to ensure that all clubs are run as top-class operations, with sound business decisions being made throughout all aspects of the organisation to provide confidence to our future broadcast partners and sponsors,” Mr Kestelman said.
“The new ownership of the Sixers are committed to excellence and are focused on the Adelaide 36ers providing a premium entertainment product to existing and new basketball fans in Adelaide.”
The team will continue to play at the Titanium Security Arena, formally known as Adelaide Arena in the 2015-16 season, and the consortium will look to strengthen the Club’s operations whilst finalising the already talented on-court roster.
NBL Chairman Graeme Wade said he welcomed the local Adelaide consortium to the league.
“This is a fundamental change for the club, in what is a very strong basketball market in Adelaide. It is good news for players, fans and the league and we look forward to working with Bruce Spangler and his team as we embark on the upcoming season,” Mr Wade said.
