3X3, WNBL share basketball bonanza

THE WNBL is racing towards its massive November double-header in Victoria, a weekend which also will highlight some of the very best in 3X3 action, under the expert auspices of Champions League Basketball.

Hosting a super double-header at Melbourne's State Basketball Centre on Saturday, November 25, the WNBL spectacular will feature the visiting Canberra Capitals against Bendigo Spirit, before the Dandenong Rangers entertain Adelaide Lightning.

But that won't be where the action starts.

Or finishes.

FIBA-endorsed CLB, the 3X3 sport's Australian pacesetting entrepreneur, is staging a tournament during the "WNBL Cluster Round" with some of the short-form game's finest exponents in action at the SBC.

London Olympics Boomer Peter Crawford will be back on the halfcourt and so will Karl Noyer, the No.1 3X3 player in New Zealand, when the CLB Elite hit the hardwood on Saturday.

The action tips off at midday and runs through to 5pm before the WNBL double tips off at 5:30.

Following the recent success of the Asia Cup 3X3, CLB3X3 will have a strong presence from the BIG V, SEABL (men and women) and CLB3X3 elite teams, battling out a firecracker of a showcase event.

CLB's international gains - including its Summer Champs competing in Mongolia earlier this year - means many international 3X3 teams also are ready to fly in to join the action.

"We've been surprised and delighted by some of the teams already registering and we think the public will be rapt too," CLB founder Matt Hollard said.

"Certainly, there are some surprises in store."

The 3X3 tips off on Friday, September 24 with an Open Masters Corporate Cup from 5-9pm.

And from 9am on Sunday, November 26 until 1pm, junior 3X3 teams have their time in the spotlight.

The best of our 3X3, four quality WNBL teams - this is a weekend basketball lovers need to bookmark in their calendars right now.
