Brad&Boti: Team-by-Team NBL analysis

BRAD&BOTI: Sydney's multi-media basketball guru Brad Rosen and I sat down to take a review of the NBL's first couple of rounds and through that, assess where the 10 clubs sit and how they look longer term in our Brad&Boti podcast this week.

We went through the teams in alphabetical order, listing what we see as their strengths and weaknesses, though I am still a believer most of the east coast's pundits only ever start their championship considerations at Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

And Illawarra already has shown that assessment is fraught with peril.

Is Trey Kell an NBL First Teamer this season?

Is anyone at Tasmania losing sleep about the huge hole left by Jack McVeigh's departure to greener pastures? What a year Jack has had. But it seems as if those JackJumpers are just getting on with the job and maybe Reuben Te Rangi is set for a career resurgence under Scott Roth.

Is United as good as we expected or did their road loss to the Jackies expose some areas where they may be deficient this season? Oh, and by the way, please close all the venue windows and doors because the drafts are impacting heavily on Chris Goulding's equilibrium.

How many teams which won the Blitz (or any organised NBL preseason tournament such as the Top End Challenge, KMart Classic etc) then went on to claim the NBL championship?

Brad and I remember a Perth and a Brisbane team doing it. And no sooner than we went to air today and Chris Anstey sent along a reminder Melbourne also achieved it. Point, though, in 40-plus seasons, you can count the teams completing that double on one hand.

So don't get too carried away with Brisbane Bullets.

Brad and I both select our plays and players of the round, he throws in a Rosen Rattler and I give you a Nagy Nasty as we also preview Round 3.
