Bahrain? Bah humbug!

AUSTRALIA overnight decimated hapless Bahrain 104-50 in their FIBA World Cup Asian qualifying match at Manama, Sydney Kings shooter Dejan Vasiljevic lighting up for 22 points and Perth Wildcats' Luke Travers showing his further development with 17 points, nine boards and four assists.

Not unexpectedly, this was over at quarter-time, the Boomers already coasting on a 27-10 buffer. (So forgive yourself if you didn't get up at 2am to watch this "instant classic".)

Australia handsomely won every quarter, the last 25-9, all 12 players on the roster scoring and Vasiljevic sticking six threes in the green-and-gold.

Shooting at 61 per cent and spreading around 32 assists, the Boomers were in total control, Bahrain shooting at 25 per cent and hammered on the boards 47-27.

Angus Brandt's 17 points included a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the stripe.

Travers' 17 was off 6-of-6 shooting, including one triple, and 4-of-4 free throws.

Sam Froling joined Travers by hauling down nine rebounds while Nick Kay matched his longtime on-court partner Mitch Norton with six assists.

Rhys Vague's 10 points further were complimented by three steals and six boards.

The Boomers are at home next, hosting Iran in Bendigo on Monday.

AUSTRALIA BOOMERS 104 (Vasiljevic 22, Travers, Brandt 17, Vague 10; Travers, Froling 9 rebs; Kay, Norton 6 assts) d BAHRAIN 50 (Chism 16, Isa 12; Chism 8 rebs; Rashed 5 assts).
