Bob's Quickie: UConn and LSU look like champs

BOB'S QUICKIE: Our man in the US, Bob Craven has had some personal circumstances interrupt his excellent reporting of the NCAA men's and women's tournaments, but he still had time today to pen a few very quick notes to keep you uptodate for the women's and men's finals in the coming days.

WE have made it through the Final Fours and are down to the Finals now, for the women in Dallas and the men in Houston.

If LSU doesn't clamp down on Caitlin Clark and if she goes off again, Iowa is the champ. But I'm just not sure she can do it three times in a row, which would mean Louisiana winning the women's title.

But I have been wrong so far on Iowa.

San Diego State University is a rugged team, which might be its only saving grace against the University of Connecticut in the men's Final.

Otherwise, UConn's big guys will be tough to beat.

Men's Final Four Semifinals games
San Diego State 72, Florida Atlantic 71

Florida Atlantic proved they really belong here and were definitely the better team until the latter part of the game.

Got to hand it to SDSU as it came from way back to win a thriller at the buzzer.

It was a classic super-exciting March Madness game.

It didn't help that FAU lost by one but its 216cm Russian big man was 0-of-4 from the foul line near the end when it really counted.

UConn 72, Miami 59
UConn was my pick to take it all, with Miami being its danger game.

But UConn played better through most of the game, and Miami had no answer to the big guy from Mali in the middle.
