Brad&Boti: Rd1 Wrapped and Rapt

THE NBL’s 2023-24 Season is underway and former Sydney Kings captain and TV broadcaster Brad Rosen and I are back with our weekly updates on how it is travelling, not to mention the WNBL coming soon!

Last week we were talking observations taken from the NBL Preseason Blitz and what they could mean for the teams on the road ahead.

Now that road has been undertaken and fans had their share of thrills and disappointments.

The presence of NBA champion Scottie Pippen for the opening match was a coup for the league, even if that game failed live up to expectations. That can happen at the best of times but is a constant of the opening few rounds as teams find their feet and work to create their identity.

There was good form to enjoy, outstanding efforts from numerous new faces – my two favourites both from Perth – Jordan Usher in their opener against Tasmania, Ben Henshall (with 24) in the Wildcats’ less-than-stellar second game scoring the most points for an Aussie on debut since good old Joe Ingles at the South Dragons.

Brad has a Rosen Rattler ready to fire and I have a Nagy Nasty – giving us both the chance for an extended rant. We know how you love those! (Hmm. OK. Maybe it’s Brad and I who love those.)

Anyway, you can hit this link or go to Spotify, Apple podcasts – you know the drill. Wherever you go for your podcast fixes. Like the waitresses and waiters always say: “Enjoy.”

(And if you don’t, we’ll try and do better next time.)
