Brad&Boti: LJ to Olympics, WNBL Final, NBL Semis

THE WNBL already is into its Grand Final Series, Perth owning a 1-0 lead in the Best-of-3 Final. But the NBL settles its issues in a double-header basketball bonanza of Game 3 semi final deciders tonight, and Brad Rosen and I are down for it at our Brad&Boti podcast.

Even though it's semis first, our policy is "ladies first" so how about those Perth Lynx and their takedown of the Flyers in Melbourne to take Game 1 of the WNBL Grand Final Series?

The G.O.A.T., Lauren Jackson, was doing what she does - surely we must get her on a plane to Paris with the Opals! - but Amy Atwell was busy leading a Perth long-range bombing mission which never relented, even after Southside was reduced to rubble.

Can the Flyers climb out of this in tomorrow night's Game 2 in Perth? They couldn't last year against Townsville but then, LJ was out injured. And one thing is for sure - she will be going down fighting, if going down at all.

The Lynx were 22-of-38 from outside the arc in G1. That will take some dulpicating. But remember, they did that on the road. Now they're at home.

Winners at home, tonight the challenge definitely lies ahead of Illawarra (at Melbourne) and Tasmania (at Perth). Both semi series locked at 1-1 and wins going with home comforts, United and the Wildcats have to start odds-on favourites.

But apart from marquee names such as Matthew Dellavedova, Luke Travers, Gary Clark, Sam Froling in Melbourne and Bryce Cotton, Keanu Pinder, Milton Doyle and Jack McVeigh in Perth, the Hawks and JackJumpers have an inspirational local each to shift the balance.

At Illawarra, Will "Davo" Hickey has been doing it at both ends, fearlessly. At Tasmania, Sean MacDonald has been getting the job done and with composure and poise.

Watching new young men plant their flags has been a joy. But then there's still Brad's Rosen Rattler and my Nagy Nasty as well, and both reflect a couple of disgruntled dinosaurs.
