Did you even know? I, II, III ...

DID you know BJ Anthony is not the first (I) New Zealander to be signed by the Adelaide 36ers?

That honor goes to another Tall Black, Paora Winitana, who suited with the Sixers in 2008-09, won a cult following and had a more-than-passing resemblance to The Rock, Dwayne Johnson.

New 36ers coach Joey Wright is hoping Anthony will be a rock for Adelaide, casting the 198cm forward in a similar mould to two of the Breakers (and Tall Blacks') greatest four-men, Dillon Boucher and Mika Vukona.

"I see BJ as a four/three or a three/four," Wright said.

Players recruited by coaches, as opposed to those players coaches inherit in a program, will usually provide some insight into what direction the coach plans to go.

Expect the 2013-14 Sixers to be a lot tougher physically and mentally.

And for those who didn't know (and have asked), no, Anthony does not play as an import, his eligibility no different to that of any Australian or New Zealand-born basketballer.

DID you know only two (II) members of the 36ers roster are NOT playing in the SBL and, possibly not coincidentally, both Luke Schenscher and Mitch Creek are recovering from injury?

Adam Gibson will turn out with Forestville Eagles against Central District at Starplex in Gawler on Saturday, bringing an Olympian back for a visit into the Lions' stronghold.

Gibbo will be looking to stay sharp for the Boomers' Oceania Series games against the Tall Blacks in August and help the Eagles in their drive to go back-to-back.

Daniel Johnson and Jason Cadee have been suiting up with West Adelaide Bearcats while Anthony Petrie is now playing alongside Pero Vasiljevic at North Adelaide Rockets.

DID you know the Adelaide Lightning have tried three (III) times to have their logo changed on the official WNBL website?

The club is no longer sponsored by Link so the Link Lightning logo is now redundant.

Hmm. Remember when Basketball Australia said the de-merger by the NBL away from under the national federation's umbrella would mean BA could devote far more time and resources to the highly-rated women's club competition?

So far, upgrading Adelaide Lightning's logo to its current new one has just been a bit too difficult.

DID you know Steve Breheny is now with his fourth (IV) club in South Australia, having accepted the Junior Coaching Director role at South Adelaide Panthers?

Breheny originally moved to SA to assist Phil Smyth at Adelaide 36ers. He also has coached Eastern Mavericks in the men's SBL.

He had an absolutely forgettable WNBL season at the helm of the Adelaide Link Lightning - these days just the "Adelaide Lightning" unless you go to the league's official website - and now he is sharing his wisdom at the Panthers.

Breheny is amid a small group of NBL identities with six championships, two as a player with St Kilda (1979-90) and four as an assistant coach with North Melbourne Giants (1994) and Adelaide 36ers (1998-99-02).

DID you know I received five (V) complaints today alone about the state of the NBL's official website at nbl.com.au and the fact it hasn't been upgraded in yonks?

No, you probably couldn't have known that one and while you probably already do know I'm not generally a "party line" guy, I would say this.

Chill.

As everyone who follows the NBL in Australia, (and those across the Tasman who follow the mythical ANBL) already know, the league is demerging from BA.

You know what that effectively means?

No-one currently has responsibility for the website. BA or its staff has/have no obligation to maintain it because the NBL is demerging away from it.

The NBL right now is an NBL in name only because its eight member clubs are in the process of establishing self-government and all the pertinent structures/decisions/priorities that go along with that.

So, effectively, the league website is in limbo.

Yes, we all agree it looks (and is) bad that nbl.com.au is just having a hiatus but from what I have gathered, there will be some major developments/announcements in the next seven-to-ten days.

Pretty sure if the working committee of the new NBL is focusing on, say, naming rights sponsorships or the free-to-air television deal, none of us would want them to drop that immediately to tell us Trevor Gleeson is the new Wildcats coach.

Sure, this would NEVER happen at nba.com but the NBA is a billion-dollar business and we almost didn't have a league four years ago so such comparisons are unfair and even irrelevant.

So, you know, maybe we just chill for a while because I'm pretty certain we all want them to get it right so that when the NBL does burst back - and nbl.com.au with it - we have something strong and viable and it stays so in perpetuity.

But you knew that...
