Dombkins makes four for Lightning

MIKAELA Dombkins today has been confirmed by the MAC Adelaide Lightning as their fourth signed player for the 2015-16 WNBL season.

The former AIS and national junior who has logged WNBL games at Sydney, Logan and Canberra, joins Leilani Mitchell, Mikaela Ruef and Kelly Bowen in Tracy York's retooled Lightning outfit.

While Dombkins, 181cm tall and 29 next month, has been out of the league for the past two years, it has given her body a chance to heal after previous ACL and back complaints.

"My body feels amazing," Dombkins said.

"I feel having the two seasons off has only prolonged my career.

"I want to help rebuild and be part of something special with Adelaide.

"To me it's all about the love of the game and I have lived and breathed basketball since I was eleven years old - it's not just a game to me, it's a part of who I am."

NEW SIGNING: Mikaela Dombkins as a Flame, drives against the Caps.

York said she expected Dombkins to bring leadership and to seize her opportunity.

"I am just beyond excited to be back playing basketball  and I'll be always thankful for this opportunity," Dombkins said.

"Saying 'yes' to Adelaide feels perfect.

"It was a decision that required little thought."
