Fallout tour hits Oz

NEW Japan Pro Wrestling’s “Fallout Down Under” tour hits Australia next week for four nights of the best wrestling outside the WWE, and some would argue even better than the “sport’s” No.1 promotion too.

Seriously, it doesn't matter if you have your doubts about pro wrestling's legitimacy. As a spectacle, it's as good as anything going around.

Ranked second in the world behind WWE – NJPW is the Euroleague to WWE’s NBA – current Wrestlemania-bound main-eventers such as WWE champion AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura honed their skills in NJPW.

A recent bout between then-New Japan champion Kenny Omega and WWE’s Chris Jericho was an absolute ripper, harkening back to the pre-PG days of WWE and to the “good old days” of World Championship Wrestling in Australia.

It was reminiscent of those Mario Milano-Killer Kowalski days of yore (and gore).

For four nights and for the first time ever, New Japan is bringing Australian pro wrestling fans its unique live experience.

The grapplers come to grips next Friday at Adelaide’s Titanium Security Arena before the Fallout reaches Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Saturday, February 17.

It’s Sydney and the Quay Centre on Sunday, February 18, before the tour concludes on Monday, February 19 at the HBF Stadium in Perth.

Participating wrestlers (as of January 30) include IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada, IWGP IC Champion Minoru Suzuki, IWGP US Heavyweight Champion Jay White (a New Zealander), IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay (in Sydney and Perth only), IWGP Tag Team Champions EVIL & SANADA, Kenny Omega, Cody (Cody Rhodes during his WWE days), Yuji Nagata, Tomohiro Ishii, Kushida, Juice Robinson, Lance Archer, Rocky Romero, Chase Owens, Toa Henare, Gino Gambino.

If you've never seen wrestling live, now is the time to do it!
