FLASHBACK 67: Back to the Sixties

FLASHBACKS, my irregular "lucky dip" where I just reach into my drawers of old Australian basketball stuff and transcribe or post whatever I find for you.

THERE'S a few more "team" shots this time around than usual, but some of the old action should bring back a few memories.

The time frame is from about 1965 up, with interesting stops along the way for you, I trust.

BUFFALO BILLS: Adelaide's 1987 SE(A)BL champion arrives home with the treasures.

GIANTS CHAMPS: North Melbourne's 1989 champs' bench, from left Marty Clarke, Cecil Exum, Mark Wright, Wayne Carroll, coach Bruce Palmer and assistant Glen Bines.

WA CHAMPS 1975, STIRLING SENATORSBACK ROW: M Henderson (Inset) Greg Darch, Mike Ellis, Paul Newman, Murray Westphal, Mark Newman, George Wilson (Import). FRONT ROW: Gordon Ellis (Asst Coach), Peter Blackford (Physio), Rob Prouse, Phil Ericson, Trevor Ramsden, Mike Langoulant, Colin James (Coach)

IT'S MINE: Melbourne East's Fred Fegan rebounds watched by Church's Lindsay Gaze, far right.

FEELING SPRY: South's Barry Spry under pressure from West's Geza Nagy, circa 1968.

ILL-FATED BOOMERS: Our 1968 Olympic team which failed to qualify for the Mexico Games.

ILL-FATED OPALS: Our 1980 Olympic team which failed to qualify for the Moscow Games.

EAGLE ROCK-ET: Craig Clatworthy harassed by Vince Tattarelli

SA GOLD! North guard Melvin Need surprises Sturt's David Smyth by passing.

AMPOL C'SHIP: Newcastle's John Gardiner pressures Mel East Demons' Tony Holden's jumper.

NBL CHAMPIONS, 1986: Adelaide 36ers' 24-2 "Invincibles".

DOLLAR IS MONEY: Sturt's Carol Dollery fires off a shot, circa 1984.

WHERE'S THE BALL? Forestville's Steve Wallace and Laurie Harcus can't find it.

GOLDIE OLDIE: West's Glenn Marsland snares the rebound from Paratels' Phil Bridge.

FIRST BREAKERS: From left, Mike Homik, Pero Cameron, Dillon Boucher, Phill Jones of NZ's NBL debutant.

AUSSIE U18 CHAMPS, 1965: Victoria's winning team in Adelaide. Pic courtesy of Greg Peck.

SPECTRE OF THE SPECTRES: Super US baller Bill Palmer at the Spectres

NBL CHAMPIONS 1987: Brisbane's Bullets celebrate their title win. Um, where's Leroy?

YOUNG LUC: Luc Longley, mullet and all, signing autographs in Adelaide.
