Your answers launch next week on Spotify with the ABC Coach Legends Spotlight podcast, hosted by Warwick Cann and featuring some of the best in our sport.

The ABC Coach Legend Spotlight podcast features recorded conversations with more than 30 of Australia's most successful coaches - from the ranks of the NBL, WNBL, Opals, Boomers, Pioneers (AIS/COE) and FIBA medallists - from the past 50 years. 

"The reason for the series was firstly the lack of basketball history especially regarding coaches, and secondly the desire to pass on knowledge and experience to new generation coaches to help raise standards," host Cann said.

"Initially conceived as a modest idea, the project has evolved into something much larger."

Cann and burgeoning multi-media associate Damon Lowery have now recorded conversations with 30 Australian basketball coaches, resulting in approximately 150 hours of valuable coaching insights.

"To ensure a comprehensive representation of Australian basketball coaching history, I established some basic criteria for selecting coaches to interview," Cann said.

"Primarily, I focused on coaches who have achieved notable success, such as winning NBL, WNBL championships, coaching the Opals or Boomers, or medalling at FIBA championships.

"While there were some deviations from these criteria, particularly for what I've termed 'pioneer coaches' involved with the AIS/COE/NBAGA programs, I had to limit the scope of the project due to time constraints."

Launching next week, the "ABC Coach Legend Spotlight," with ABC standing for Australian Basketball Coaching, each week will feature two conversations of each coach on Wednesdays and Fridays allowing listeners to delve into the wisdom and experiences of these legends.

The Women's Game Big 5: Tom Maher, Jan Stirling, Carrie Graf, Phil Brown, Sandy Brondello
Pioneer Coaches: Pat Hunt, Barry Barnes, Mark Bragg, Bill Palmer, lan Stacker
NBL Championship Coaches: Bruce Palmer, Bob Turner, Alan Black, Rob Beveridge, Joey Wright, Brendan Joyce, Al Westover, Phil Smyth
Current Coaches: Marty Clarke, Andrej Lemanis, Dean Vickerman, Guy Molloy, Shannon Seaholm

"Given the extensive volume of content, I anticipate the series running throughout 2024 and possibly extending into 2025," Cann said.
