He said what?

DWAYNE Wade has definitively ruled out playing for the USA at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Or ... not.

While USA Basketball is still holding out hope for a LeBron James appearance, his Heat teammate Wade acknowledged - well sort of - that his time at international level apparently is over.

"I ain't going to shut the door,'' he said.

"But it ain't that open.

"But it ain't all the way closed in my mind.

"But I can't squeeze through it right now.

"But you never say never. You never know how you feel at that time. You never know what role you could have.

"But at the end of the day, that's not my focus.''

OK. Thanks for clearing that up.

Maybe Baron Davis can write Wade's future responses?

IN some real NBA news, Antawn Jamison made it official this week, signing with one of my favorite teams, the Los Angeles Clippers.

Jamison signed a one-year contract for the league minimum. He averaged 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds last season for that other NBA team across town, the Lakers I think they're called.

Jamison has averaged 18.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game over his career.

The Clippers also arranged a sign-and-trade that netted J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley.

Redick is a career 39 per cent shooter from three-point range, while Dudley has hit 40.5 per cent from beyond the arc.

Also secured is free-agent seven-footer Byron Mullens, who is comfortable taking nearly four triples per game.

Since the 2004-05 season, Jamison is averaging at least 3.1 three-point attempts per game in each season, with 5.4 in 2006-07 his high.

He is 34.7 per cent on threes in his career, stroking it at 36.1 per cent last season with the Lakers.

Another ex-Laker, Matt Barnes, has re-signed and impressive North Carolina shooter Reggie Bullock also is now officially a Clipper.
