Import merry-go-round as heat intensifies

SEQ is hoping new signing Jordan Hooper is something of a Jordan AND a quality hooper, while DeNesha Stallworth has landed in Canberra to try and rescue the 0-10 Capitals.

Yesterday was a busy day in the WNBL, with Basketball SA and Basketball Australia running through options ahead of Sunday's clash between MAC Adelaide Lightning and Dandenong Rangers at the Lighthouse.

The three-court venue at Wayville is not air conditioned and the forecast is for a 40-degree day. (That's after Saturday's 39 has well-and-truly heated the venue into a sauna.)

Both BSA and BA, administrator of the WNBL, have a hot weather policy which nixes fixtures if the forecast is for 38 or hotter so the game, wisely, has been moved to the air conditioned Titanium Security Arena.

Hooper, 23 and 188cm, joins the Stars with two years' experience in the WNBA at Liz Cambage's Tulsa Shock club and represented the gold medal-winning US at the World University Games.

Stallworth, 23 and 191cm, averaged 13.4ppg at 53 per cent, 7.7rpg and 82per cent from the free thow line in nine games with the Stars before her release.

The struggling Capitals were quick to pounce on the former University of Kentucky Wildcat in a bid to shore up their frontcourt.
