Isaac's challenge to stay healthy with 36ers

THE Adelaide 36ers choosing to revisit big-man free agent Isaac Humphries is a calculated gamble after he followed two injury-interrupted seasons with the Sixers with another at Melbourne United last season. Let's be blunt. Humphries healthy is as good an NBL big man as you will find.

The 25-year-old, 211cm NBL Rookie of the Year already knows his way around Adelaide, his signing virtually guaranteeing the club will not revisit veteran 212cm centre/forward Daniel Johnson who played 13 seasons for the 36ers before free agency this off-season.

Versatile New Zealand guard/forward Hyrum Harris has joined Perth but the Wildcats have lost a past roster player, Rhys Vague to South East Melbourne Phoenix.

Since winning an NBL ring with Perth Wildcats, Vague 27 and 206cm has been playing some outstanding basketball for Australia Lite in FIBA's World Cup windows and enjoyed a successful three-year stint in Japan.
