Lightning tips off early

ARGUABLY the WNBL's "match of the round" - MAC Adelaide Lightning hosting surging Dandenong Rangers tomorrow night at The Lighthouse - will tip off at the earlier 7pm timeslot and with a new pricing structure.

Hot on the heels of Adelaide Basketball announcing Marcus Wong as Lightning general manager, the WNBL ladder leaders are offering the family-friendly new ticketing prices of $10 an adult, $5 for kids under 18, and one child FREE per paying adult.

The matchup is one of the marquee games of the season, the Rangers on Sunday beating defending champion Sydney Uni Flames at Dandenong.

Adelaide opened its season beating Sydney Uni - but in between the two losses, the Flames had a four-game winning streak rolling.

In other words, both protagonists are in good form.

Steph Blicavs, Kayla Pedersen, Tessa Lavey and Sara Blicavs all had big moments for Dandenong which is sure to take it up to the ladder leading Lightning.

Away from Adelaide's officious officiating, Ruth Hamblin starred as Lightning lowered Bendigo's colours, following another brilliant game from Abby Bishop as Adelaide escaped Canberra's clutches 80-77.

"We're tipping off at the earlier 7pm timeslot because it is a school night," Wong said.

"We've also changed the pricing structure to be more family-friendly and appealing."

Adelaide also has some off-court surprises in store as it begins the revamp of a stagnant game night presentation.

Tip-off 7pm at The Lighthouse, Titanium Security Arena.
