NBL21 TotW Rd.8: Here they come again!

CONGRATULATIONS and exhultations of the highest order are overdue for the Brisbane Bullets who this NBL Cup round became our first multiple winner of our highly-coveted "Team of the Week" accolade.

And they achieved their back-to-back success despite dropping their first game in a three-match cluster!

Not only did they drop a game, but it was to the (then) last-placed New Zealand Breakers outfit! But the Breakers were on a surge and next took championship favourite Melbourne all the way to the wire before United prevailed by the length of one long-range missile.

The Bullets responded to their 92-97 reversal first by stunning in-form defending champion Perth 95-92, then taking out league leader and championship favourite Melbourne 96-88.

United and the Wildcats had started to separate themselves somewhat from the pack so for Brisbane to whip both in the same round was a phenomenal effort, different players stepping up on each occasion.

Matt Hodgson and Jason Cadee formed the Bullwinkle-and-Rocky hero combination of the win over United after Nathan Sobey and Vic Law typically led from the front in the victory at Perth's expense.

With four wins from their past five outings, the Bullets are emerging with a flourish.

Meanwhile our "Team of the Weak As P---" had no obvious candidate this round, eight of the nine teams posting at least one win and all nine posting at least one loss!

Only the Phoenix went 0-2 but one loss was by a point to Perth and the other by six to Sydney, hardly poor performances in a very tough Cup round. Ryan Broekhoff, come on down!
