No surprises, Curry or Ced

IT was no surprise today when Golden State Warriors' Steph Curry won his second consecutive NBA MVP award.

The award being unanimous for the first time in history IS something special - even MJ or Kareem couldn't pull that off.

But anyone who witnessed his performancxe to close Game 4 of the Western Conference semi final series with Portland yesterday would know Curry is beyond special.

No great surprise either that Cedric Jackson, a triple-NBL champ with NZ Breakers, has crossed to Melbourne United, as revealed at B.O.T.I. on April 20.

When David Barlow's  retention at United is announced, remember that one is no surprise either.

And nor will the news NZ Breakers' power forward Tai Wesley is taking his talents to St Kilda Beach, or wherever the United guys like to go for a jog.

Yep, off-seasons are a time for rampant speculation but Jackson, Barlow and Wesley being on the Melbourne roster isn't any of that. It's just unreleased fact. Well, except for Cedric. Thats out now.

Brad Newley playing for Sydney Kings isn't speculation either, the NBL outfit obliged to keep "mum" while our dual-Olympic swingman completes his contract in Spain at Gran Canaria.

You have to like how some of these teams are shaping up.

Majok Deng (University of Louisiana-Monroe) and Anthony Drmic (Boise) joining Adelaide are nice coups too.

IN the WNBL, two-time championship winner Kelly Wilson amicably has parted company with Bendigo Spirit.

Just don't be surprised when she shows up in Townsville in Claudia Brassard's new Fire regime.
