NORWOOD will incorporate its past into its future with its new uniforms for senior and junior teams.

The back of the State league club's new singlets references 2/10th Battalion and Budapest Basketball Club, in homage to the club's historic first ever team and to its promotion to District via the merger with Budapest.

After winning State titles in the early 60s, Budapest was the Hungarian-based club which saw amalgamation as its eventual preservation.

With the Hungarian Club based in the heart of Norwood, a merger with the then second division club created the new Division 1 club Norwood-Budapest, the powerhouse immediately winning the summer title at a time when it was still a prestigious championship to win.

The idea was that with time, the Budapest name would fall away, as it had to with assimilation, leaving today's pacesetting Norwood Flames Basketball Club.
