Brad&Boti: Opals soar, Boomers sore and not 'Great Scott'

BRAD&BOTI: Better late than never! A few unfortunate technical issues haunted last week's Brad&Boti podcast with Sydney multi-media mogul Brad Rosen and I wrapping up the Paris Olympics and the latest NBL shock, but here it is now for your enjoyment (or otherwise).

The Opals won Bronze in brilliant fashion and we review Ezi Magbegor's 30-point performance and the fact our Australian women did us proud, while leaving us craving more.

Bronze is no mean feat and also beating Silver Medallist France along the way makes for an admirable representation at our sport's zenith.

After the opening game fiasco against Nigeria - I suspect most people have worked out which of the assistant coaches did the scout - to reach the podum was a wonderful effort.

So why is coach Sandy Brondello always under such scrutiny? We discuss that in depth, challenging the merits of some of her decision-making while also examining every Opal and how they performed under the spotlight.

We talk future potential Opals coaching directions and also how we see the future of our national team generally, given the development of tournament All Star Five member Alanna Smith, Ezi and Jade Melbourne. Not to mention Steph Talbot, though we did, including her super block (below) in the medal playoff.

Considering who will be retiring from international basketball, there are challenges ahead.

So too for the Boomers as we briefly revisit their tournament before turning the focus to Adelaide 36ers in the NBL and its management's decision to sack coach Scott Ninnis 11 days into preseason.

Remember he was interim last season after CJ Bruton was axed, went 8-7, restored pride in the team and hope in the exhausted fanbase.

Yet six months after appointing him for two years, he has been brutally axed, club icon Brett Maher confirmed as having severed all ties with the club in the wake of that decision.

We discuss it all so for all that and more, hit this link, or go to your usual podcast destinations such as Apple and Spotify.
