Oops, Anthony

ANTHONY Drmic closed his NBL season with Adelaide 36ers ejected in their last game. On Saturday, he started his Premier League career with Southern Tigers the same way!

Unsurprisingly, the defending champions went down to Sturt at Pasadena, comfortably beaten 84-64.

Southern was trailing by 12 with a period to play when Drmic was sent packing after protesting too loudly over a non-call on his shot. He probably had a case, in this instance.

GOOD NIGHT: That's Anthony being shown the door by referee Nathan Durant.

Drmic still finished with a game-high 17 points despite his premature departure.

Against Illawarra in the Sixers' losing semi final, Drmic also was ejected during the third quarter, treated harshly after earlier being tech fouled for an alleged "flop" after he had legitimately (actually, illegitimately!) been decked by Hawks import Michael Holyfield.

WHAT DID WE LEARN FROM ROUND 1?

That Sturt is the "sleeper" in the women's Premier League.

That Alex Wilson supercedes Olivia Thompson as favourite for the Halls Medal.

That Norwood has a couple of solid men's imports but Forestville still is ahead as a team.

That many of the frontcourt imports are basically rebounds and defence players.

That North (men) are as good as advertised.
