Pero's new Rocket

STUCK for something to do in Adelaide tomorrow night, then head down to Port Adelaide Stadium and watch Anthony Petrie make his SBL debut with North.

Petrie, 29 and 203cm, was one of the few bright lights in another black year for the 36ers and fellow Sixer (and former fellow Gold Coast Blaze teammate to boot), Pero Vasiljevic finally wore him down.

Pero is in his second year as North Adelaide's SBL playing-coach and desperately needed help in the Rockets' frontcourt.

"Getting Peach is awesome," he said. "I'm really excited to play with him.

"I asked him ages ago (about joining North) when we went to China with the Sixers (in the pre preseason).

"I told him it's not the SEABL or QBL."

It certainly isn't, though teams such as tomorrow night's opponent West Adelaide Bearcats, certainly boast relatively formidable opposition.

Adelaide 36ers MVP Daniel Johnson and guard Jason Cadee both are Bearcats, as is former 36er "big," Blake Truslove.

Vasiljevic and Petrie against Truslove and Johnson has "worth the admission price" written all over it.

"Peach has had a few (injury) niggles but he is good now," Vasiljevic said.

"And it's good for him to get back in shape now he's in the Boomers' squad."

(The full squad will be released tomorrow by Basketball Australia, not to mention adelaidenow.com.au and botinagy.com).

Tip off tomorrow between the 5-0 Bearcats and 2-3 Rockets is 8:15pm.
