Podcast: Here we go again

SYDNEY Kings captain and one-time assistant coach to Brian Goorjian, Brad Rosen has joined me again in our ongoing weekly quest to help cure insomnia.

If Ric Flair can still be styling and profiling, Brad and I can continue blasting and podcasting!

And this week?

There's plenty of discussion about the WNBL and how Sydney Uni Flames are now back in Final Four calculations, Brad loving their win over Adelaide.

It wasn't so much the win in itself but its "memory lane" value as part of the WNBL-NBL double-header at Qudos Bank Arena, followed by the Kings-Taipans match.

The crowd got into it and Sydney finished all over the Lightning, albeit a 27 to 7 free throw disparity also significant.

And didn't Cairns then cause an NBL stir with their road victory over Sydney?

How good is Scott Machado and just how good a job is Mike Kelly doing in his second season as Taipans coach?

We suspect "pretty good" though I'd have Simon Mitchell and Trevor Gleeson in my Coach of the Year conversation. There's only eight coaches in the running for the men's award because NZ's Dan Shamir has already wrapped up the "Director of Basketball of the Year" award. Kevin Braswell will be making the presentation.

Now New Zealand has all of its horses and all of its men, is it too late to put their Humpty Dumpty season back together again?
