The Week That Was: Dec.8-15

THE NBL and WNBL round wraps are coming your way tomorrow but in the meantime, did you catch all the action this week at Basketball On The Internet?

It was another huge week in basketball, across both leagues and also for the Opals as their final stage of qualifying for the Olympics looms on the horizon.

Here's how we saw the week.

It was the biggest shot for Adelaide this season and clinched a key NBL victory over NZ in Auckland today.

Lightning's Brianna Turner and Steph Talbot led the onslaught as they sent Bendigo packing again in their third WNBL clash.

Basketball On The Internet is always on the look-out for great Christmas gift ideas and here's two basketball books reviewed for your gift-giving considerations.

Bendigo sacked WNBL import Rebecca Tobin, a star last season for former coach Simon Pritchard, ahead of its third clash with Adelaide.

The Adelaide 36ers held off South East Melbourne Phoenix in an NBL classic, 24 hours after Perth found the energy in the last quarter to overcome Cairns.

The Opals squad for the last pre-Olympic qualifying event was announced by Basketball Australia, 20 players. So for fun, the story included my favoured 12.

Our NBL and WNBL tips for the week's games, plus a whole glistening grab-bag of other goodies appeared here.

It was history in the making and the continuation of a great week for Cairns Taipans and their faithful Orange Army when our weekly rankings for NBL & WNBL hit.

Brad Rosen and I debated the merits of Mike Kelly's coaching with Cairns, added a spot of music and generally enjoyed our weekly podcast on the NBL and WNBL.

Right here, we were looking to (re)install some colour into our very black-and-white NBL so you can pick your team immediately on TV, instead of having to guess.

Our NBL Player of the Week was a hard one to split but in this game of snakes and ladders, eventually one guy stood out.

We wrapped up Round 10 of the NBL, with the Cairns Taipans charging into the top four.

Our WNBL Player of the Week played as if she was from another Planet and earnt her very first Basketball On The Internet accolade.

It was goodbye to him and hello to him, Glen Rice Jr departing for NZ, Darington Hobson and Bill Preston in for Illawarra.

And that was our week!
