The Week That Was: Nov.10-17

WHAT a week this has been, with our Opals through to next year's final stage of qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics, new Breakers NBL import Glen Rice Jr arrested and sidelined from today's match in Perth, but the club's chief executive Matt Walsh having his fine and suspension reduced.

But oh my, don't the Opals have some work to do ahead of Tokyo 2020 after taking another beating - that's three in a row now - from arch rival Japan today.

You can catch up with what happened to Walsh in the aftermath of his sideline spat with NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger here, along with the results of the games so far in Round 7.

This is the issue which led to Rice being forced to miss the Breakers' match with Perth.

The Opals took their record at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Kuala Lumpur to 2-0 by hammering hapless India here.

There may have been an NBL season-high 16 lead changes in this classic "rivalry round" matchup but in the end, it was Perth finally smothering the 36ers in Adelaide, with the report here.

This is the kerfuffle which got Matt Walsh into the pickle in the first place, plus these were our tips for the NBL round, right here.

The Opals were off to a fast start by swamping Chinese Taipei here.

This is how we ranked the NBL teams this week.

Brad&Boti Podcast #4 really needs a listen. Go back and check it out if you missed it. The best half hour of your week! But if not yours, certainly ours.

It took a while but the Opals appear to have learnt you have to pick the right players for the various scenarios international basketball throws up these days.

Yes, we had a ball selecting our NBL Player of the Week.

And our WNBL Player of the Week also sent a message to her former club.

We wrapped up the WNBL round here.

And the NBL round was wrapped up here.

After we got through telling you where the 36ers went wrong right here.

And that was the week that was on Basketball On The Internet.
