United "Tais" the knot, officially

IF you can't beat them - decimate them. That seems to be the prevailing attitude of the NBL's Melbourne United which today officially announced it had signed NZ Breakers power forward Tai Wesley.

Wesley and import playmaker Cedric Jackson were huge as New Zealand last season beat United in the last two games of the regular season, then swept them aside 2-0 in the best-of-three semi finals as well.

Jackson, Wesley and the return of David Barlow? You may have read it here first.

Europe-based David Andersen and retaining Chris Goulding also are high on the United agenda as Melbourne compiles an imposing roster for its 2016-17 campaign.

These are heady days for United.

“We have worked hard to sign players strategically and in our own time this year. Tai will add the depth we want to our defensive structure and inside play while also adding another deep outside shooter,” United GM Vince Crivelli said today.
